House Concerts In Nova
Scotia 2016
This summer Rod will be hosting two weeks of house concerts in Nova Scotia.
These are week-long gatherings where Rod plays a concert each evening (or
afternoon if there's something planned for the evening). The houses are
comfortable, with full kitchens and facilities and lots of amenities.
Everyone is responsible for their own travel and food, with some shared
meals.
Week
1 (July 9-16) is in St Margaret's Bay, about an hour SW of Halifax
along the south coast of NS, a tiny harbor town. Halifax is an easy drive,
with its fort, museums, waterfront and historic sites; Lunenburg and Peggy's
Cove, one of the most photographed and painted harbors in all of creation,
are also in the area. On Thursday, July 14, the group will tour Sherbrooke
Village, a restored historical site (a la Williamsburg or Sturbridge) that
is also Rod's father's hometown; that evening, Rod will play a concert at
the County Courthouse, open to the general public (free for attendees of the
house concert week). The cost is $600 per person for the week, double
occupancy. Participants are responsible for own travel and meals; sharing is
encouraged and practiced. As of June 15, there is one room with
two single beds available.

Week
2 is just outside of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, on the island of Cape
Breton, connected to the mainland by a causeway. The setting is a bit more
rustic:
two houses, one directly on a lake, the other up the hill, with private dock
access, about 5 miles from town. The Cabot Trail begins about an hour away.
Rod will be joined by fiddler Rex Blazer for this week, and there will be at
least one trip to hear some local fiddling and song. Contact rodmacd@aol.com
for further information. Sorry, this week is full.
