Hi
everybody
Thanks
to everyone who
came to see us
last month. Our
Funky Biscuit
show sold out,
the two
Dylanfests up
north were a
blast, and
Liberty Festival
and the smaller
and private
concerts were
very successful.
I
read a short
essay that said
"Many smart
people are
frustrated
because they
cannot
understand why
everyone else
doesn't see what
they see." Or
something like
that. It goes on
to add "But
people who are
conscious
shouldn't waste
time trying to
educate those
who don't
listen; they
should
concentrate on
continuing their
own journey
toward greater
knowledge."
With
that in mind, I
have a concert
Saturday 5:30 pm
at The Listening
Room in
Franklin, NC (UU
Church 89 Sierra
Rd), and on
Sunday I'm the
guest speaker at
the UU Church of
Franklin on the
topic "Surviving
The Present
Times." I invite
you to send me
your own
suggestions.
If
I can get a
good-sounding
stream, I'll do
a facebook
livestream 8
pm June 15 from
Toronto.
Also
on June 21 is Freedom
Folk Festival at
the Gerrit Smith
Estate National
Historic
Landmark in
Peterboro, NY,
home of the
National
Abolition Hall
Of Fame. It's a
celebration at
the Abolitionist
movement of
pre-Civil War
days, and will
have a full
weekend of
lectures, movies
and (Saturday
afternoon) music
by Rod
MacDonald, The
Cadleys, and
Sean Ceilly.
June
23-27 is Songwriting
With Rod
MacDonald a
virtual
5-morning
songwriting
workshop for
Common Ground On
The Hill. I
recommend this
workshop to
anyone looking
to get started,
get better, or
get there in
songwriting, it
has helped
numerous
writers.
Congratulations
to Roy Gamses,
one of my recent
participants,
who won CGOTH's
award for Best
Song earlier
this month, out
of 145 entrants.
My
family and I are
spending some
time in
Michigan, in
Toronto
(June-July),
7/16-18 in VT,
at Falcon
Ridge Folk
Festival 7/25-27,
in NY State
7/20-30, in
Virginia
7/31-8/4 and
Atlanta before
heading back to
Florida. Message
me at rodmacd@aol.com if
you have any
great
suggestions for
good times and
good music.
